CAMPAIGN PEWTER RIMS

"Pewter rims" are campaign badges consisting of pewter rims encircling lithographed paper images of candidates or historical figures such as Washington. Sometimes pewter rims are one sided, with a mirror reverse. They are general two to four inches in diameter. The paper images are sometimes black and white and other times hand colored. Pewter rims exist for Jackson, John Quincy Adams, Harrison, Polk, Clay, Taylor and Cass. None of the candidates are common. The Clay is seen the most frequently and the Adams seems to be the most difficult to source.

The following is a short article by Doyle Dewitt mentioning his discovery of a page of Cass/Taylor images intended for pewter rims.
